Christian Hanretty, University of East Anglia, will be teaching the first Going Digital training session tomorrow Wednesday 30th January, in UEA’s London campus. It is entitled Scraping the Web – but, as Christian says
it might well be subtitled, How To Save An Awful Lot Of Time By Writing Computer Programs To Copy And Paste Information From Long And/Or Repetitive Websites.
If that wonderfully concise description has piqued your interest, you can download the booklet for the training session, which I’ve put on my web site.
The session will take students from their first programs in the Python programming language, to some “recipes” to extract information from web site tables and lists.
This will be a hands-on session, so participants must bring their own laptops. Guest wi-fi access will be available.
